The 7 Stages of Marriage
Here are the seven stages of marriage.
1. The Passion Stage
This stage is all about excitement and newness in marriage. Couples often fall in love with each other and cannot stop touching one another. This stage is where couples discover new things about one another and each other as married couples.
2. The Realization Stage
As the honeymoon phase begins to wear off, couples realize that marriage isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. Each person must deal with their own expectations and beliefs regarding marriage. Conflict can arise. Couples should communicate clearly and have a respectful and healthy relationship.
3. The Rebellion Stage
This stage is when one or both of the partners might feel trapped and rebel against their spouse. This could lead to an affair, addiction to drugs, or a separation from the relationship. Couples should seek out help before spiraling out of control.
4. The Cooperation Stage
After the rebellion stage is over, couples can move into the cooperation stage. Here they work as a team to improve their marriage. This includes setting boundaries and creating healthy habits. Resolving past conflicts. HTML2_
5. The Reunion Stage
This stage is when couples feel closer to one another. They can communicate well and support one another through difficult times. This stage is often referred to as the “make or break” stage. Couples can either strengthen their marriage or slip back into old habits and patterns.
6. The Explosion Stage
Couples often face a major crisis during this stage that puts their marriage at risk. It could be financial difficulties, infidelity or the death of a spouse. Couples should be able to support each other through difficult situations and work together.
7. The Completion Stage
Couples reach a point of trust and comfort in the last stage of marriage. They can communicate clearly and manage conflicts with maturity. This stage is often regarded as the most satisfying because couples have overcome the difficulties and come out stronger.
Each marriage is different and each couple will experience the stages differently. Every marriage is unique and will experience these stages in a different way.
